Corrective Exercise For Injury Prevention And Performance

Corrective Exercises utilise the science of human movement to address and fix movement compensations and imbalances found within the human body. These imbalances can be a result from anything like lifestyle, work related repetitive movements, injury and surgery. When there is a imbalance within the body this will create postural dysfunction, increased stress on joints and connective tissue like tendons, poor movement patterns, restricted performance and a increased risk of injury.
By addressing these imbalances we are able to reduce the injury risk, establish better posture, better movement within the joints and muscles and increased performance.
After an initial consultation, posture and movement assessment, we can then start the 4 step Corrective Exercise Continuum.

Inhibit
Inhibit tension in areas identified as being overactive or shortened through assessments.

Self-myofascial Release Techniques:
-
Reduce muscular tension
-
Relieve muscle soreness
-
Improve circulation

Lengthen
Lengthen the muscles with static stretching or neuromuscular stretching techniques.

Stretching Techniques:
-
Reduce stiffness
-
Increase range of motion
-
Improve posture

Activate
Activate the muscles identified as underactive or weak.

Strengthening Techniques:
-
Activate individual muscles
-
Improve muscular endurance
-
Increase strength

Integrate
Integrate uses dynamic total body exercises that are progressed to solidify and coordinate the changes made.

Integrated Strength Techniques:
-
Improve total-body coordination
-
Improve movement patterns
